Law of attraction- Is it true?

In the New Thought philosophy, the Law of Attraction is a pseudoscience based on the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life. The belief is based on the ideas that people and their thoughts are made from “pure energy” and that a process of like energy attracting like energy exists through which a person can improve their health, wealth, and personal relationships. There is no empirical scientific evidence supporting the law of attraction, and it is widely considered to be pseudoscience.

The issue is not with proponent of such theories, but also with those who call themselves Muslim scholars, researchers or philosophers that adopt such ideas. Thy say that ‘’As Muslims, our proof for the law of attraction is Dua(supplication). The law of attraction is another way of expressing dua as simple as that’’.

If that were true, then why use this terminology in the first place, and why not just leave it as Dua??

Other Muslims might say, the law of attraction is to be optimistic and hopeful. If you are optimistic that something will happen to you in the future, then this is a way of expressing the law of attraction. A positive thought comes to your mind, so you have to free yourself from negative thoughts and experiences to achieve and gain what you think of and wish for.

Now for a Muslim, it should be clear that optimism and the law of attraction are different because for a believing person, the state of optimism is adopted because the believer is hopeful and optimistic in God. And the difference between hopefulness in God  and the so called law of attraction is like the difference between the soul and the physical.

One day I asked Sayyed Ahmed Al-Hasan about the law of attraction and he said to me ‘’Incorrect, and there is no scientific value for whatever they have written. You should leave your matters for God considering that you believe in Him and allow Him to decide for you for your fate and the outcome’’.

Ok Sayyed, then how do I think of things that will happen in the future because the supporters of this law say that you created these futuristic things by thinking of it and attracting it towards yourself?

The Sayyed says ’’No, it is because you believe in the unseen and there are tools that God endowed in your soul, and this soul is connected to the unseen. So, the Creator of this soul informs it of the future by showing this soul the board of erasure and confirmation.

It may be that you have answered the call of an oppressed one, or given charity or any other good deed, so God made your soul see an unseen matter in the future. The reason of your knowing of something specific that will happen in the future is because God informed you and endowed that in your soul due to your connection to a world that is higher and more elevated than this material world that you are in. This is not from the law of attraction but it is from the granting of your generous Lord to you who granted you the chance to see what is in the board of erasure and confirmation’’.

Therefore the essence of the attraction should be towards the kingdom of heavens and not towards the material lowly physical world.
