About Coronavirus Vaccines

There have been a lot of questions on the safety of coronavirus vaccines. One such question about the Covid19 vaccine was asked recently to Sayyed Ahmed Al-Hasan. The question and his response is given below.

Question:

Many of the brothers from several different countries are asking me whether they should take the corona vaccine, especially those working in health centers because they are required to take the vaccine. What is your advice regarding this topic?

Answer by Sayyed Ahmed Al-Hasan:

“May God welcome you. Sheikh Nadhem asked me about this a long time ago and I responded.

In general, vaccination is not a religious or jurisprudence matter. Rather, it is advice. Whoever has an effective and safe vaccine available should rely upon God and have himself and his family vaccinated.

There are many safe vaccines, like Pfizer and Moderna, and the Chinese vaccine is also fine. There are vaccines with very small or rare potential for harm like AstraZeneca but if a person has access to the alternative, it is better. If an alternate vaccine is not available and the person is exposed to some degree or might possibly contract the virus, it is better to vaccinate whether using AstraZeneca or another [similar] vaccine.

Side effects of the vaccine or drugs in general for this pandemic or others is expected and anticipated. However, it is not right for those who should take the vaccine to refrain from treatment or vaccination based on the argument of potential harm to one in a million; he is already in a situation of greater potential harm. “
