Al-Qaim (The Riser) will move forward and accompanied by his companions and people, reach Al-Najaf. At that time the army of Sufyani will come out against His Eminence from Kufa. That day shall be Wednesday. Then he shall invite them and call them to his right and he shall inform them that he is oppressed and compelled. He shall say: 'Whoever argues against me in regards to God, then I am the most knowledgeable of you concerning God.'... So they will say: 'Go back where you came from, we have no need for you.’ Indeed we informed you and tested you.

Al-Yamani: The Divine Character

The Yamani is the key sign before the return of 12th Imam pbuh. It has been mentioned from the Ahlulbayt but that it is obligatory to give allegiance to the Yamani when he appears, as he calls people towards the straight path, and towards Imam Al-Mahdi pbuh. It has also been mentioned that whoever rejects the Yamani is from the people of hell.

Imam Al-Baqer pbuh said: “There is no banner more guided than the banner of the Yamani. It is the banner of guidance because he calls to your possessor. If the Yamani emerges he will forbid the selling of weapons to people and every Muslim. If the Yamani emerges go to him for his banner is the banner of guidance. It is forbidden for any Muslim to turn away from him. Whoever does that is from the people of hell because he calls to the truth and straight path” Gaibat Al Numani p.264

The character ‘Al-Yamani’ has been mentioned by the Ahlulbayt pbut in such a manner, that it was impossible for people to decipher more details about him, until the coming of the man himself, the companion of this matter. The reason is simply that it would serve as a sign and proof for him when God sends him and he clarifies his right to the people through their own books. Nor was the matter of Mahdis from the progeny of 12th Imam pbuh prevalent among the Shias, even though classical scholars had mentioned it and didn’t go beyond what they could make sense of in their time.

None could explain it until the coming of its rightful owner (Sahib Al-Amr) so that it serves as a proof for his truthful claim just as the Ahlulbayt pbut had mentioned.

From Malek son of Al-Juhni he said: “I said to Abi Jafar pbuh: ‘We have described the rightful owner with a description that is unlike any other person from the people’. He pbuh said: By God, it will not be that at all until he argues with you by it and calls you towards him” Gaibat Al Numani page 377.

Sayyid Ahmed Al-Hasan :

“Al-Yamani is someone obligatory to be obeyed no matter what this obedience was and how the Ahlulbayt pbut made us understand it. So can someone who is obligatory to be obeyed be left without a clarification, a name, a description, a place of appearance etc.?

It is obligatory to obey him to the extent that turning away from him will lead a person to eternal hell, so can this obligation be left out without clarification for his position (divine rank)? How will people specify the Yamani during the claim to avoid turning away and not reside in hellfire eternally?

There is no way, the only way is to join the Yamani with another character which was accurately described. The reason that the Ahlulbayt pbut made it like this is so that the solution to this matter will be an evidence for the true Yamani, the entire solution is like a secret word or the password that leads to the secret.”

He then gives an example of a bank safety deposit box and the secret password to access it.

“The narrations exist and they exist for everyone, just like the letters and numbers are available for everyone in case of the password for a bank safety deposit box. But who would know the secret word that is arranged from these letters to access the deposit box at the bank, except its rightful owner?

If the bank wanted him to enter the secret word to unlock the deposit box and take what is inside it, it gets noticed if the person was the owner of the storage or a liar. Even though the secret word is composed of letters and numbers which are available for everyone, and can be used by everyone. But its impossible for anyone except the owner of the deposit box to arrange these letters and numbers in such a way that the arrangement becomes appropriate to open the depsit box.

That is same condition for the rightful owner according the texts (of Ahlulbayt pbut). That whoever arranges them (the reports from Ahlulbayt pbut) in the clear picture which will unlock the secret becomes the rightful owner and no one else, no one will unlock it except the rightful owner.

Whoever doubts, his doubts will not benefit him because upon him is to see if the depsit box was unlocked? Did he reveal a secret? If it was unlocked, the matter has ended and the one who unlocked it is the rightful owner, who else can unlock it except the rightful owner?

A lot of them also, when they see that the evidence are hard-hitting and powerful, they say to the Ansars (believers in this blessed call) that he is a smart person and has used the text for his right. Briefly, they realise that the deposit box was unlocked and the secret has revealed itself. But they still don’t want to admit that the one who revealed it is the rightful owner, and that he has unlocked it so that the matter ends.

Why didn’t Muhammad and the family of Muhammad pbut say openly that the name of Al-Yamani is so and so, such that the matter ends, isn’t that better?

But if they pbut had done that, the authenticity of the proof would have perished along with the narrations just as I’ve clarified for you. In such case, it would have made someone a possessor of proof simply by using the texts as a proof, and just posting a picture (of himself, which is easily possible for anyone). So the matter is what I have clarified to you, that he comes with a password or a secret word just as it was mentioned in the narrations (from the Ahlulbayt pbut).

From Malek son of Al-Juhni he said: “I said to Abi Jafar pbuh: ‘We have described the rightful owner with a description that is unlike any other person from the people’. He pbuh said: By God, it will not be that at all until he argues with you by it and calls you towards him” Gaibat Al Numani p.377

How can his proof be authentic to the people? Because he will solve the secret and will clarify the truth from the narrations, and because he will use the will [of Prophet (p)] as a proof since God had made the Will hidden in the books of the people for him. How much were the Shias in need of a will to use it as a proof upon others? Why haven’t they used it as a proof throughout all these years upon those who disagree with them (among Muslims)? And even though it is the only one (the only Will mentioned in the hadiths of all Muslims)? It had been with them, they had narrated it, yet they hadn’t paid attention to the fact that this will was dictated during the night of the death [of Prophet Muhammad (p)]. Even though they are scholars, and understand the matter very well.

Isn’t this the will of God that he kept it away even from those who narrate it? Why did he keep them away from it and from deducing it, since apart with that deduction it can only strengthen the true religion? He kept them away from the will because no one will claim it except its rightful owner.
